Functional lab testing, used with intention.

I use labs to establish a clear baseline, guide decisions, and understand how your body is functioning beneath the surface.

How I Use Lab Testing

Most people are not lacking effort. They are lacking clarity.

Functional lab testing provides objective insight into how your body is functioning so we can make informed, precise decisions instead of relying on guesswork.

Lab testing is a tool.

It does not replace the foundations of health, and it is not the starting point for every decision.

In my work, testing is used to:

• Establish a clear physiological baseline
• Identify patterns that are not obvious from symptoms alone
• Guide targeted decisions around nutrition and lifestyle
• Track meaningful progress over time

The goal is always clarity and direction, not complexity.

  • Chronic, low-grade inflammation influences energy, recovery, immune activity, and long-term health patterns. These markers help us understand:

    • overall inflammatory load
    • how your body is responding to stress and environment
    • whether inflammation may be contributing to current symptoms

  • Cardiovascular markers reflect more than heart health. They provide insight into metabolic function, inflammation, and long-term resilience. We use these to assess:

    • lipid balance and transport
    • inflammatory contribution to cardiovascular strain
    • broader metabolic health patterns

  • Blood sugar regulation plays a central role in energy, hormones, and inflammation. These markers help us understand:

    • stability of energy production
    • patterns of dysregulation that may not be obvious day to day
    • how the body is utilizing and storing fuel

  • The thyroid influences metabolism, energy, and system-wide regulation. We are looking at:

    • all 8 biomarkers related to thyroid function, hormone production, and conversion
    • signaling related to energy use
    • patterns that may indicate under- or over-function

  • The liver is central to detoxification, hormone processing, and nutrient metabolism. These markers help us assess:

    • metabolic load
    • detoxification capacity
    • how efficiently the body is processing internal and external inputs

  • Kidney markers reflect hydration status, mineral balance, and filtration. We use these to understand:

    • fluid and electrolyte balance
    • filtration efficiency
    • overall internal stability

Baseline Testing

I recommend baseline labs for nearly every client to give us a clear picture of how your body is responding to your current lifestyle and where support is needed. These markers are directly influenced by daily habits, environment, and overall physiology.

  • Used when digestive symptoms, inflammation, or immune patterns suggest deeper imbalance. Provides insight into:

    • microbial balance and diversity
    • digestive function and absorption
    • inflammation within the gut
    • markers related to intestinal integrity

  • Assesses intracellular nutrient status, offering a clearer picture of what the body is actually using. Helps identify:

    • nutrient deficiencies impacting energy, repair, detox, and regulation
    • areas that require targeted repletion
    • priorities for nutritional support

  • Used when there is concern for environmental exposure to mold, heavy metals, and chemicals. Provides insight into:

    • accumulated toxic burden and sources
    • how the body is processing and eliminating toxins
    • areas where additional support may be needed

  • Used when symptoms suggest more complex endocrine or regulatory patterns. Can help clarify:

    • hormone signaling
    • stress response and adaptation
    • diurnal patterns

Advanced Functional Testing

Advanced functional panels may be used when they add meaningful clarity or help guide more targeted decisions. Not everyone needs deeper testing. When it is used, it is done intentionally.

How to Access Testing

Lab testing is available in two ways: as part of private nutrition coaching, which includes full interpretation, strategy, and ongoing support, or as a standalone option for those who want targeted insight and clear direction without ongoing accountability.

If you are unsure where to start, we can decide together what would be most useful based on your goals and where you are currently.
